LENT AND EASTER
AT CLAYTON-WESLEY 2011

An invitation to friends and visitors
to participate in these prayer times and celebrations leading up to Easter
 
SHROVE TUESDAY – (Pancake day! Mardi gras! The Celebration before Lent begins!)

8th March 7 - 8.30 pm Hope Hall - Bug Night – play the old fashioned game of Beetle, with a chance to win the perpetual trophy or other prizes. Followed by an all-you-can-eat pancake supper. Proceeds to those who are homeless or doing it tough, through Uniting Care Adelaide East. Cost $5.00 A child-friendly night, so bring someone small!

ASH WEDNESAY – 9th March
A quiet, reflective Service in the Church at 12 noon
And again at 7.30 pm

Sacred Friendships  - STUDIES DURING LENT
Led by Rev Richard Miller Tuesday evenings 7:30 pm for six weeks which begins 15/3/11 and ends 19/4/11 in the Church

Retreat in Everyday Life  - SPIRITUAL COMPANIONS – this new programme begins with a special retreat day on Saturday 19th March. We meet at the Church from 10 am to 3 pm, (Lunch provided) with time spent together and alone in prayer. Step by step instructions and help for those who are new to this, and then Rev Anne Butler will be providing personal Spiritual Companionship each week of Lent at a time to suit you. You can talk with her about your spiritual life, as you live your normal life in the everyday world.
 
PASSOVER - Friday 15h April, 6-8 pm Meal in Hope Hall $5
Jesus’ last meal with his friends was the Passover, the ancient meal celebrating the liberation of the Hebrew people from slavery in Egypt. This Christian version of Passover reflects both the suffering and the celebration of freedom through Jesus, and the people of Jesus. Especially suitable for Children. Booking is helpful - 84312442

Either Service in the Church at 7pm remembering Jesus at the Last Supper

Or LABYRINTH - Companions on the way - A meditation on compassion and caring (with footwashing)  7.30 pm Clayton Chapel

GOOD FRIDAY – Friday 22nd April
9.30am  A reflection on the Crucifixion in the Church
7.30 pm LABYRINTH - Behold the Wood of the Cross - A meditation and walk at the foot of the cross, with music and ritual of Tenebrae. Clayton Chapel

EASTER EVE – 11.30 pm LABYRINTH - New light, New birth
From darkness into Paschal light: greeting the risen Christ. A Labyrinth walk with new fire/paschal lighting ritual Saturday April 23, Clayton Chapel

EASTER DAY – Sunday 24th April
6.30 am   A Dawn Service in the Cemetery followed by breakfast in Hope Hall
10.00am  The Feast of the Resurrection in the Church with Holy communion – join in the singing!

The Prayer Group meets in the church Fridays at 10.30 am

Fellowship - first Thursday of the month at 1.30 pm

Choir Practice - Thursday at 7 pm in the church (in recess during January)

Cafe Spire - Friday Lunch 12 noon - 1:30 pm

Dinner 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm (except for first Friday of each month)

Play Group meets in Hope Hall on Friday at 9.30 am
